The Twizzles Story
Twizzles Dance School has been introducing children and adults to the joys of dance since 1981. In that time many hundreds of pupils have passed through
our doors and some have gone on to achieve international success in dance competitions and careers, whilst others are quite happy to enjoy their hobby
as part of a healthy social life.
Some former pupils are now members of the teaching staff and many who came to us as young children now bring their own children to us, such is our reputation.
Twizzles was founded in 1981 by local sisters Linda and Shirley Hughes, well-known former dance champions who enjoyed great success representing England in
international dance championships. The school grew steadily over the years until 2010 when it out-grew its former premises in Lostock and moved into much
larger newly refurbished premises in the centre of Horwich.
The school boasts three dance studios, and a comfortable café area where pupils and their parents can relax over a cup of coffee (the cafe is currently closed
because of Covid restrictions). The range of classes available truly offers something for everyone and for all abilities and ages, including Ballroom, Latin American,
Freestyle, Rock’n’Roll, Modern, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary and Street.
The school employs seven professional, friendly teachers, eager to welcome you. Twizzles is affiliated to the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of
Dancing and the International Dance Teachers Association, and it holds regular examinations for pupils to gain medals, if desired.
Twizzles offers an old-fashioned approach to dance tuition where every pupil is treated as an individual, and everyone is made to feel welcome, regardless of age
Private lessons and wedding dance lessons are also available, and the studios are available to rent for private parties and functions.
